Possibilities with the next SoCal Power Rankings

We're about a month removed from the last time the Southern California Brawl Power Rankings were updated. So why not speculate on the next set of rankings?

I'm guessing that the next update will come after Aug. 30, when Axis Gaming's Brawl Tournament takes place in Emeryville.

Here is the current Power Rankings list:

1. DieSuperFly
2. Futile
3. Aero
4. Teba
5. Edge
6. Hugs
7. Ajax
8. ShadowROB
9. Plan 9
10. Lite661
11. Beat of Azia
12. Gamble
13. Danimals
14. Romeo (xDarklinkx)
15. D.C.

When you look at the list, are there obvious changes that should be made? Yes.

I don't see DieSuperFly and Futile switching places as they had in the past rankings.

But let's not talk about which one of those two guys should be No. 1. Instead, let's talk about who should get dumped and which players should get in.

Looking at the list, I see four, possibly six players that could get dumped. Most of it is because of inactivity or bad performances at recent tournaments. I won't say what six players are on the bubble, but if you've been to tournaments in the past three weeks, you probably have an idea of the six players I'm talking about.

Let's just say that six spots are open. Who will replace them?

Here's eight players I have in mind. In no particular order:

1. Connor the Kid
2. BarDulL
3. Fly Amanita
4. Creepy Fingers
5. Leepuff
6. Edrees
7. Hall
8. Pnoy

I'll try to go rapid fire on these eight players.

* -- Connor (top picture, left) has at least three top-four finishes in the past few weeks, and he's beaten some ranked players along the way. If he doesn't get in, stop the power rankings. Seriously.

* -- BarDulL (top picture, right) admitted that inactivity was one of the reasons why he was probably dropped. So now that he's been more active (and successful) in Brawl tournaments than at least four players, he should get back in.

* -- Edrees (current picture, right) might be one of the more entertaining players to watch (even though his matches eat up a lot of my hard drive space). Add to that, he's been successful lately in team and singles competitions. There are some players that need "one or two" more tournaments to prove themselves. Not this guy.

* -- Fly Amanita is quickly becoming the SilentSpectre of Brawl. Don't load the shotgun and shoot me just yet. The only correlation between these two guys is that you want to see them play. Futile and DSF may win, but Fly Amanita is the most interesting to watch. Much like how every SilentSpectre match was a combo video waiting to happen, you want to see what Fly Amanita does with those Ice Climbers.

* -- Leepuff might have barely missed out last time, but a runner-up finish in Oxnard should be enough to get him in. Same with Creepy Fingers, on a slightly lesser scale.

* -- There needs to be at least some San Diego representation, which is why Pnoy and Hall (Nos. 1 and 2 in San Diego) should get consideration, even if it's 14th and 15th. Let's say that they don't get in. Is San Diego the Brawl version of the Antelope Valley, where they won't get consideration because they don't compete outside of their area on a consistent basis? We'll soon find out.

Eight players for six spots. There's pretty much two locks (BarDulL and Connor), but after that, it all depends on your perspective.
