M.G.C coming to three cities in California

The Midnight Gaming Championship, back for a third year, will up its California appearances to three.

Plans right now are for the fledgling league to make an appearance in San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego once the season begins; no start date has been announced.

There are six games scheduled to be on the roster: "Madden 08," "Super Smash Bros. Brawl." "iPlay Bowling," "Guitar Hero III," "FIFA Street 3" and "Burnout Paradise."

Last year, the league made only one West Coast appearance -- in Santa Clara -- as competitors took part in five games. One of the games was "Super Smash Bros. Melee," and the regional event was won by Reynaldo Gonzales.

Gonzales ended up in the top 10 in the national finals, which took place in Dallas. Lakewood's Danny Sandoval won the "Ghost Recon Advance Warrior 2" national finals after claiming first in the Santa Clara regional.

Although the M.G.C is based in the Dallas region, this year's 16-city tournament series will have more of a western feel, as four other cities west of the Rockies will play host to regional events: Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix and Las Vegas.

Last year, most of the events took place in the midwest, with just one event occurring on each coast.
